We pride ourselves on the quality and the national and international appeal of our broodmare band.
The mares are selected under a very strict criteria. They must have a correct confirmation, a current pedigree of the highest quality and racetrack performance where possible. Therefore our mares can be justifiably bred to the most commercial sires in Australasia.
Milburn Creek Thoroughbred Stud is located at Nepean Stud Farm Grose Vale NSW, an easy one hour drive from the city of Sydney. It is nestled on the fertile banks of the Hawkesbury River which was the food bowl for the new colony of Sydney some centuries earlier.
The complex comprises a variety of facilities to ensure that our mares and their precious offspring are reared in an environment that is first class. No expense is spared. Especially when it comes to nutrition.
An essential ingredient of any successful business is the quality, loyalty and experience of its people. At Nepean Stud there is no shortage of that. Led by manager Kerry Kertesz, our team includes Wayne Burley, Chris Shephard and Linda Davidson (Sydney Admin Officer). Casual staff are recruited as required.
Our staff and veterinarian are on hand 24 hours a day to ensure the best care is given. After all, our horses are part of our family.
One of our proudest moments was when one of our homebreds "Redoute's Dancer" created history and became the first ever Australian bred and trained horse to win the prestigious New Zealand Group One Derby in 2007. He was sold at the Magic Millions Sales.
